Materials Request Form
What is Materials Request Form (MRF)?
A Materials Request Form for Production lists the items to be picked from inventory / Stores and released to production department for processing or in the provision of a service to a customer, usually for a specific job. This form helps Stores Keeper to manage inventory and its movements. Who requested the materials, what and when is kept track of the same.
MRF can be raised by a Production person / supervisor as its a request to Stores Department to deliver the materials based on the production needs. This helps as an Approval mechanism to find who is asking what materials, how much, for what etc.
This is an Item request to internal transfer to another department. These are different from purchase request forms or indents.
It also has a Maker Checker and Workflow approval process.
In our application,
- Select Finished goods product
- Select BOM ID
- Enter Quantity and enter search button
- Its automatically shows available quantity, quantity as per BOM, wastage quantity, and total quantity
- If want, you can export the data in excel also
Typically MRF can also be used for the regular stock requests even for non production requests as it keeps the track of how much material was requested, how much issued, what is pending etc.
